  • I want to build my own arcade controls!

I know I have seen several forum posts on PC specs to run mame but I searched for awhile and I couldn't find any.

Anyhow, I would be running Mame, S/NES, Genesis, probably a handful of Dreamcast, Street Fighter IV (the Steam game).

If that PC isn't adequate, what is it lacking?

also, I would get the open box one, which is about $400.  Would it be more cost effective to build one myself? I was just worried that the power supply is kind of low, and the gfx card is probably not that great.

thanks

  • Mmmm, arcade classics!
That thing should be able to run pretty much anything without even breaking a sweat.

Cheaper to buy this than make my own most likely?

I've built cheap PC with:

Proc: Pentium G3258 (overclocked to 4,2)
board: Asus H81M-E
ram: Kingston Value 2048 Mb DDR3
graphics: Asus Radeon 4350
PSU: FSP 400 W (that's more than enough for this PC)
case: cheap and small SilentiumPC
HDD: Seagate 500 Gb SATA 3

and that's very good configuration for MAME, Taito Type X games.

That PC isn't lacking anything. It's almost overkill. But it's nice to have a PC that loads fast.
