Hey guys,

I got a working gauntlet legends cabinet which I also did a CF card mode some while ago.
I recently got a gauntlet dark legacy conversion kit (1 rom, 1 harddisk).

Turns out changing the ROM and HDD does not work as expected - the LED keeps cycling "IOASIC" which (as far as i know) means the ROM does not match the HDD.

So I first went to check the stuff... dumped the rom, matches the MAME rom.
Then I made an image of the HDD... matches the 2.4 CHD file from MAME.

Tried another harddisk with the 2.4 image and the 2.5 image too, doesn't work.
So I burned another rom with all known security versions - still gives me an IOASIC error.

Did I miss something?
I do all that stuff even without a Joystick ;)

Great... Figured out the Kit is missing the security PIC for the SIO Board...
Guess I've been ripped off :(

That pesk7 PIC Chip eh?

Well, here's the drop-in replacement (which needs to be appropriately programmed), I wouldn't have the slightest clue where to start trying to reveng it though (maybe mame vegas.c can tell me), the last PIC I dealt with was an import mod for my psx :P

I have a GDL upgrade set that has the pic chip. If your close by and have the gear to do it, you are welcome to borrow it. Im in Las Vegas.

From what I can tell mame emulates the pic, doesn't actually use a dumped one. I believe all the vegas board pics are undumped because they are hard locked and emulation has made it a low priority to crack/decap the chip.
