MAME versions, compiling and all that.
« on: May 28, 2015, 02:48:20 pm »
So I've had Mame 104 running on my vertical machine for quite some time.
Now I'm looking at cleaning some things up to make the experience a little nicer.
I'd like to get rid of the nag screens that show up on certain games that have issues.

So I set out to compile my own using Headkase's tool and.
Problem is I don't want to run a late version of mame. Version 104 works well for my 550 games.
But on mames download page for older revisions and everything is giving a 404 error.

I tried a version of 149 that I found online which was already compiled for no nags but even after turning off everything that I thought would tax my CPU, it's still ran slow and stuttered on my old Pentium 4.

I read somewhere that version 103 and below allow you to disable mag screens in config file.
Is this true for commandline or is that only for UI?
Besides that is there or even another place to download an earlier version from besides mames site.

Try this link...  It goes to a page where you can paginate through earlier versions...

Thanks,  I'll check that link.
The previous versions downloads on mames site also link back to github but so far this link looks good.
Thanks
