Multiple Ultrastik's crashes MALA and MAME
« on: May 22, 2015, 10:50:28 am »
Hello All,

I have just started configuring my control board.  I have four ultrastiks.  When I hooked up the first one and tested everything went fine.  Then I added a second, configured the ID to #2 and when I started MALA or MAME they both crashed.  I tried all of the ultrastiks and the same thing happened.  As soon as I removed 3 of the 4 joysticks then everything worked fine again.

Is this a known issue?  Is there a work-around?

Thanks,
-Bob

Still trying to figure this out.

I can see all 4 ultrastiks in the ultramap program and interact with all 4 without issue.  I can launch Mame but when I go to launch a game, that is when Mame crashes.  Mala will not even start.  If I remove ultrastik 2-4 then Mame and Mala work fine.

Not sure but isn't there a place in mame ini where you have enable multiple mice?

Not sure either .... this is my first Mame build.   Who really does multiple mame builds?  ... probably more than I think.  Anyway, I'll google for that, if someone knows the answer please let me know.

Thank you

Wrote Andy an email a few days ago, hoping he has some clues.

I looked up the idea of setting multiple mice to on.  It seems that this would not be the correct approach.

I did reply to your email but it bounced back with "unknown domain".

The first thing to check, is, if you go to "game controller properties" for each device in Device Manager do they respond properly there?

I will try replying to your new email as well.

Turns out there was a bad ultrastik.  I tried several combinations of ultrastiks, usb cables and usb ports to finally narrow it down to the culprit.

Thanks for everyone's help!
