Ultramap - runtime error 429
« on: May 13, 2015, 05:26:56 am »
I tried to open Ultramap today to change the maps on my Ultrasticks after a couple of months of not using it and i got the following error:

"Runtime error 429 - Active X component can't create object"

It worked fine in the past... I downloaded latest version from Andy's website and i also checked my system for any corrupt system files (using sfc /scannow) but no luck!

Any help?

(I have Win 7/64 Ultimate with latest updates installed)

I fixed it! In case anyone else has a similar problem, i did the following:

1. Installed Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Common Controls:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=10019

2. From an elevated command prompt (open CMD as Administrator) i registered dx7vb.dll & dx8vb.dll

regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dx8vb.dll
regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dx7vb.dll
