Has anyone ever build his own Candy / Astro bartop?
« on: May 06, 2015, 09:27:42 am »
I've seen this guy on Youtube/facebook making this brilliant Candy bartop cabinet, only problem is he is selling them for $800 (picture enclosed). That is the cabinet only with CP, no monitor/pc.
Has anyone build one like this or are there any plans out there?

Wow that thing looks incredible. Is it made from wood? I'd also be interested in seeing some plans if they're available

Yes, it is from wood. But the guy making them won't share the plans and is selling them for $800. That is. Just the cabinet!

It doesn't seem right to me to build an Astro-City-style cabinet and put an LCD in it.  Looks like you might be able to fit one into that one with a little bump out in the back.

In any case though, that does look really good.  I think that's the closest thing I've seen to an Astro City done in wood.  Really looks excellent.  If you look at the WIP pics on the facebook page you can get a lot of hints.  That's a pretty creative way he addressed some of the complex rounded areas on the sides and top.

As an aside, a Vewlix isn't really a classic candy cab, so not sure if it's what you're looking for, but there have been tons of those built from wood that look dead on, and plans are available.
