Save state
« on: December 28, 2003, 05:05:56 pm »
ok I know this is gonna sound like a stupid newbie question : :) Buut how do I turn on use the save state option in mame I have seen it talked about but just never really needed  to worry about it till now.

My cabinet is almost done and I would now like to be able to save my game progress, scores and such. But I cant seem to find any options for it anywhere.

I am running mame32.

Also on a diffrent topic does anyone have a two layer control panel layout I know I saw a pic of one somewhere it had the four JS's on tthe bottom level and I think the track ball then it hadd a spinner and tron type handle on the upper teir. I liked the layout alot.

Mostly I need just some good ideas or full siize printable layouts so I know what "good spacing" would be on the cp.

For saving high scores use the highscores dat:

http://www.mameworld.net/highscore/

Just download the dat and put it in your mame folder.

The buttons for save and load state are F7 and shift-F7 by default i think... but i don't know which is which cause i haven't used it in a looooong time.

You hit shift-f7 to save i think, then choose where you save it to (keys 1-9 maybe? or any key?) then hit f7 to load a state....

idunno... read the docs.
