Wico Leaf Joysticks.. Adjusting
« on: December 27, 2003, 12:06:04 pm »
For those using the wico leaf robotron style, or any leaf style joystick..

Realistically, how often do you have to adjust the leafs so that you get good contact all the way around? I swapped out on of my Tsticks last night for a red balltop. It was great for about an hour, played pretty much nonstop. After that though I found that I was having real problems hitting the up/right and down/right diaganols. Pop the CP off and sure enough the right switch had bowed out just enough so it still worked if I was moving to the right but was just out of reach when going diaganol. At this point it was already about 3am so  Ifigured Id work with it today

Im using the correct spacer(the fat one) for 8way, and these sticks were new, not used/refurb

Anyone got any tips for using these hassle free? I love em but not if Ive gotta readjust the springs every few hours of play

In my experience, when I first got the leafs I had to adjust them a few times to find the sweet spot and haven't had to readjust them since. I think its just trial and error to see what adjustment feels right and stays put.

Same as Ledbetter for me: I had a little initial adjustment, but I haven't had to touch them since.

I think I found part of the problem at least.. The E_clip that I was using around the bottom of the stick was a bit larger than the 8-way spacer. I thought it was the original but I musta just grabbed one. Since its not a full circle , it had spun to where the opening wasnt lined up with anything and it took extra push to make contact.         it'd make sense if I took a pic of it but my battries dead

So I had much better luck with it today. I think Im really gonna like it
