Lightweight FrontEnd - old PC
« on: April 21, 2015, 06:57:46 pm »
Thinking of setting up a lower-end machine (Athlon 3000+, 512MB RAM) in an old poker-machine cabaret sized box. Is there a consensus lightweight frontend that would be ideal for a computer of that level of power? I normally use Hyperspin for MAME-style builds, but it clearly won't run well on that box. Thanks in advance all!

MALA would be a good pick, lightweight and works well.

Okay, thanks, I'll give that a shot first. I spotted GameLauncher, but noticed it wasn't supported/developed anymore. MaLa seems low key and full of options, thanks!

+1 for mala. I'm using it on a pretty old machine. Runs just fine. Wish the machine would boot faster!  :)

Gonna agree with Burn.  Mala is very good if you want options.  Emulation Station is pretty light weight as well.

If you use a simple theme, Attractmode's probably just as performant as Mala.
