So what do significant others do when they think they want to go to Arizona, but don't actually play games? Should I get her admission to the floor and try to drag her around, or do non-enthusiasts usually go off an do something else in town so we can concentrate on games instead of trying to keep them entertained?

Good question.  Ond asked me something similar.  If the ladies are willing to Uber, there is some shopping in Tempe off the freeway.  Let me look into it.

Dude, this is Arizona, which means you can do almost anything within a few hours drive.  Flip side of that - you gotta drive a few hours to do almost anything.

:) That's the impression I'm getting from poking around. She's not one to go off adventuring, but it seems like that's the kind of place it is. I suppose that's why the old saying goes "No guts, no getting lost 2500 miles from home when your husband has no car to come rescue you."

Yeah, that was the deal breaker for us, too.  She can spend money we don't have on ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- we don't need just fine in Texas.

Butterfly Farm
AZ Science Center
Heard Museum
Spring Training Game(s)
Shopping
Hotel Pool
Skydive -  ;D (seriously...SkydiveAZ)
run over a hill naked with an egg beater screaming "MOTORBOAT!"

If you have transportation and a few hours to kill:
Tombstone
Flagstaff
Prescott
Grand Canyon (4ish hour drive)

Lots to do here...

Speaking of getting away, last year on Saturday most of us got together and drove to a Home Town Buffet to eat dinner courtesy of Vigo. Would you guys want to so something similar this year, like at the aforementioned Tempe Marketplace?

Thank you all for the input. Based on the feedback, she's decided to stay home. But I'll be there.

Yotsuya - I'm definitely in for having dinner with everyone.

Are there Wanna-be DIY Specs for the T-Shirt? I could try to have it done locally - maybe put something on the back like "Bootlegs are PCBs Too" since mine wouldn't be original.

2XL is perfect, unfortunately. :) Latecomer scores a badge. Awesome! I'll get on that avatar tonight. PM? Hah! Since you posted a pic of everyone else's name and hometown on their badge, no need for me to be the only one unexposed. (Although, if you need last names, it'll be on the paypal for the tshirt/badge. Let me know the amount and address.)

Thanks,

Well, it's only our second play date. I got to try his Total Carnage at 2015's RetroWorldExpo in CT and we talked for a few minutes then.(proof!) We seemed to be getting along, but then he took his game and went home.

I'm pretty sure we won't be on the same flight. He's considerably west of me, so he can fly out of Newark/EWR in a lot less time and for a lot less money than from my closest airport (Hartford/BDL).

Pretty cool that you'll be there Nexusmtz!  I remember you, of course.   :applaud:

As for the airport:  Yeah, I'm actually closer to my hometown airport in Queens, NY (JFK) so I'm flying out from there.

And yes, I'm down for the buffet, dinner or whatever.

Getting playlists together for the flight.  It's as good a time as any to binge watch TV shows. I'm going to try Parks and Recreation, I'll watch the first few episodes to see if I hate it.

I got dibs on the swag! (Since last year, heh).   j/k  Yots, you are the man and we can't thank you enough for being the go to guy for all things Zapcon!  :applaud:

On a side note, I ordered a few more things equipment-wise for shooting video out there.  A portable dolly for my tripod, some extra flash memory for my video camera (turned out they were duds so I'm in the process of RMAing them).  Some portable soft diffusers for the light (who wants a super bright light in an arcade environment anyway - these REALLY help take it down a notch).

Graphics are pretty much done on my channel.  I'm just going over lower thirds for identifying you guys once you're on the screen.  It's going to look pro and I can't wait.  Intro is done (see link in my sig).

Yots, you said you had some ideas on shooting?  PM me or we can talk over the phone, whatever is easier.
