I was going to post this closer to ZapCon, but johnrt's little hand grenade yesterday in the UCA thread got me thinking that now was a good time for this.
Warning - NSFW Language follows. But trust me, it's good stuff.
We're about a month away, and I have to tell you that I am hella chuffed at all the stuff going on with ZapCon. T-shirts have been ordered, IDs printed, and games are being repaired as we speak to make this event the best yet. I'm lucky to personally know the organizers, and I know how hard they work to make this a fun and premiere event.
Honestly, I'm also honored that so many of you are coming in from out of town (hell, out of the country) simply to attend this event. Last year, there were 5 locals and 2 out of towners. This year, there are 7 locals and 8 guests coming (it'd be 8 and 8, but alas, no TacoTownCharlie... *sigh*). You guys coming from out of town are my personal guests here. I want to make sure that from the moment you arrive to the time you leave, you have a kick-ass time and that you want to come back next year.
I love this place, and I consider you all my brothers. And like with any set of brothers, sometimes you butt heads, you disagree, you even fight. It happens. We're all passoniate about this hobby, and really about video games in general. Why else would you fly hundreds of miles to come to the desert? Bideo gamez!
We're all brothers, we're all unique personalities, that's fine and dandy. But I want to be clear on one thing, and I'll be blunt about it:
If you have any beefs with anyone here and you're going to ZapCon, you leave that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- at home. We're all going to ZapCon to have fun and hang out with like-minded individuals. But I will ---smurfing--- call your ass out if you start ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- with anyone, ANYONE while at ZapCon. We're not having cliques, snicker, secret handshakes in the corner, or anything like that. I don't care who you are, I don't care if we're friends in real life. This is a gathering of BYOACers. You don't have to like each others, but you need to ---smurfing--- play nice. Shake a hand, have a beer, challenge each other to a game. If ---smurfing--- Driverman walked in to ZapCon and introduced himself to me, I'd treat him like we were the best of friends.* We're BYOACers, that's how we roll. I got one rule for the weekend: don't be a dick.
Honestly, I don't anticipate ANY issues. But I wanted to be clear on that. I look forward to a ton of fun and comraderie that weekend with you, my brothers. I can't wait to meet each and every one of you, all guys I consider my friends.

* I was going to use Kaneda as my example, but ---fudgesicle--- that dude.
