Mad Cats MC2 Universal racing system: Update - works well!!
« on: April 13, 2015, 12:30:03 am »
Just bought one of these for $30. Comes with Steering Wheel and Pedals for PS1, Ps2 and Xbox. I have the PS1 and also have A PS1 to PC USB  control dongle so hopefully I can get it to work with Mame as well. For $30 what the hell, I've spent money worse ways. I'm going to put her through the gears and see how it measures up at any rate :-)  Anybody else use one of these ??

Was looking for a Logitech G25\G27 force feedback but at $30 compared to $250 gotta at least give it a chance..

I have found it was $30 well spent, this unit work great with Mame. You just need a PS1 to PC USB controller adapter... :applaud:

Awesome!  Shame no FFB, but having a wheel that works across all those consoles and PC is pretty aweseome?
This is actually the first I've seen anyone on these boards mention this wheel.

I assume it has a centering spring?

How far does the wheel travel?  (180 would be a half circle, 270 would be 3/4 circle)

It turns damn near all the way to the bottom on either side so whats that, 270 ?? If we are talking pizza there is a slice missing !! LMAOI

The MC2's have durability issues.  In 2008 I brought two of the red Xbox only MC2's to an anime con game room to run Outrun 2006 on a pair of Xbox's linked by a crossover cable.  They did not survive the con... Gas pedal snapped on one, spring failed on the other. People kept playing on gamepad though.  ...Till the PSU failed in one of the Xbox's.  That was a bad day for console based Sega racing. :)

Pedals feel pretty sturdy on this unit however only tried them a couple times, I prefer using the thumb buttons on the wheel it self for Gas and brake  :)
