Coin mech - identification, parts and connecting to mame
« on: March 29, 2015, 11:30:53 am »
Hi All,

I need some help identifying what coin mech this is and any help on finding parts - as you can see there are a few missing!

Also - any guides out there for connecting to mame?

Thanks,

Chris

The door itself is a Coin Controls brand. It was originally a two chute door, then somebody hacked it up (literally) on the left side to install some sort of electronic coin acceptor that is unfamiliar to me. I can tell you that all that is left remaining of that electronic mech is just the faceplate. The faceplate is badly butchered up too.

This door is so badly hacked up, in my opinion, I would scrap it and look for another door.

I prefer Happ coin doors myself. They can be customized a little more with different colored coin rejects.
I also find the coin reject buttons on Happ doors to be smoother than coin controls which is important because I have switches behind mine for coining up the machine.
Don't buy direct from Happ though.

As far as hooking up to mame, a switch goes below the coin mech and the contacts get closed when the coin hits it. Just hook up the com. & N.O. to your encoder.
Alternatively, you can go the switch behind the coin rejects route too.
