CP Locking
« on: March 29, 2015, 07:10:11 am »
Good morning all,

I am after some advice for my cab. Before I start a build, I want all details ironed out. I understand that most control panels are in a box and lock in, then can be hinged to access the wiring etc. I plan on building just a flat piece of mdf (18mm) and fixing it to the sides with some sort of latch. I do this as the pc used to run the system is pretty powerfull, and I will be using it for PC games. For this, I have designed a keyboard drawer directlu inder he cp. I was wondering what sort of latch would be suitable for attaching it to keep it sturdy when latched. I have added a picture to help, as I may not be explaining myself very well.

Many thanks

I generally use a control panel latch. I'm not 100% sure if I follow you about how you want to mount the CP, so that may not work for you. However, it'll certainly hold it tight! :)

+1 on the CP latch. Having just a flat board for a panel is common in commercial cabs, and latches are used there as well.

Am I to understand that you will have the underneath of the controls exposed? Or are you planning on a front that isn't shown in that render?

Hi both, thanks for the replies and sorry for my late reply. Yes, I will have a hinged board where the gap is now to hide a keyboard/mouse drawer. It not in the image so I can show the area I mean
