The site is down. Not sure if it's a server problem or if Bart has decided to pull the plug. Anyone have a info?

It was up yesterday and Bart replied to my post yesterday too so I'm guessing it's just down at the moment. Hope so anyway

its back up but, the latest post is not the best news

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get in touch with Nik for about a year now, so I'm not sure if his code will ever see the light of day. But I really hope so.

At the moment, I'm just too busy to work on Supermodel. I did a little work here and there on the 3D engine (nothing interesting to show yet) but my attention is consumed by work as well as numerous other personal projects that have become very important to me. In a situation like this, all that can really be done is to make the code public, which it is, and hope someone picks up where we left off. Supermodel needs a lot of work: a GUI, better rendering, and of course, improvements in the core emulation. These are not incremental changes but would require rewriting substantial portions of the code base, something which I just don't have the time for, unfortunately.

The Supermodel forum seems to have died again, it's been down for a couple of days now. I hope this isn't a sign of Bart throwing in the towel as far as Model 3 emulation goes.

Doubt it needs it's own sticky, but definitely needs put where it can be accessed.
I'll do something with it when I get more time.
It might just be a link in supermodel section of the driving cab info thread though.

Although activity seems to have ceased on Supermodel for the moment, it looks like the MAME team are still making new progress:

http://mamedev.emulab.it/haze/2015/01/23/more-model-3/

It sounds like the work they're doing can be implemented across into Supermodel as well, so here's hoping Supermodel's catwalk days aren't done yet...

Looks like Haze is working with Metallic....who works on Demul.  :)

Preliminary Model 3 emulation was present in a WIP version of Demul just before Supermodel was released.
They stopped work on it since Bart was making so much progress and already had a standalone emulator.
Maybe it will be added back.

EDIT: Scud Race running in Demul in 2011 -

I think I might have even had this Demul build at some point.... ???

DOUBLE EDIT: This quote from Haze doesn't exactly support my theory that Model 3 might be added back to Demul -
Quote
so fingers crossed this brings the SuperModel team back to life and they backport some of this work

Ahh, good memories. I remember seeing those work-in-progress videos of Scud Race in Demul quite some time before any footage from Supermodel was released. I still had a Pentium 4 PC at the time and I could run Scud Race at about 1 frame a second in an old, old revision of MAME, so that early Demul progress blew me away. I upgraded PC not long after Supermodel v0.1 came out and was fortunate enough to become a playtester for the, at the time, still WIP and not publicly released v0.2 of Supermodel. The very first ever video of an emulated version of Scud Race running with sound (from the WIP v0.2 build of Supermodel) on YouTube was one that I uploaded.

Fortunately I've become a bit of a better driver since I made this.
