Inexpensive top fire stick
« on: March 26, 2015, 02:45:17 pm »
I've come to the conclusion that my current project needs either a top-fire or trigger stick.  Battlezone is painful without one.  I've looked around a bit and everything I'm seeing is in the $30-$50 range, way to much for my budget.  Anybody have a link to a cheaper alternative?

I used the Mini Grip Flightstick from Ultimarc:

It is $22, not a lot cheaper than what you list but a bit.  I think the throw is a bit tight but I am happy with it so far.

Here's a ebay listing for a set of 2 used ones  for $27 + $9.59 shipping so still the $30 -50 range but you get 2 so could resell 1 if not needed.

Just to toss this out there, most of the topfire joysticks I have seen have a very short throw.  I don't care for them as a second joystick because of that.  Just my 2 cents!  As with all joysticks I'm sure some people love them.

Not exactly cheap, but might be a cool option depending on your current setup.

So once again, we find that evil of the past seeps into the present like salad dressing through cheap wax paper, mixing memory and desire.

Yep, I feel your pain, you definitely need that trigger button for BattleZone and Tron. I've done an extensive search on this and keep coming back to the Mini Trip fro. Ultimarc as mentioned in the second post. It has 2 fire buttons on it actually...

 I'm actually very surprised that this style stick isn't commercially offered.

I'm not a picky guy, but I can't imagine playing games on a crane-game stick. Blech.
