Rockola tone arm adjustment
« on: March 20, 2015, 06:09:42 pm »
This is my first post, so any help would be much appreciated.
I have a rockola 453 jukebox.
The tone arm misses the beginning of the record and starts about 10 seconds in.
I have adjusted the screw yet it makes no difference I can not get it to play the beginning of the track.

Thanks in advance

The "screw" just secures the arm in position,

Slacken it off.
Start the jukebox and wait until the arm  is about to "set down" on the record.
Then stop it with the scan switch.
Move the arm carefully until the stylus is at least 1/16" in from the edge of the record.
Then tighten the screw.

At the same time it would be as well to check that the gripper arm at the "rest" position is exactly between the first and last records. A common fault is that the gripper arm is slightly nearer one or the other. This can mean records get scraped against the duckbills as they are removed and replaced. The adjustment is quite simple and is explained in the manual.

Thanks for replying. But tried that and still won't start at beginning of record. Still missing the first 10 to 15 seconds of each song.  Also when I put the b side on the a side plays first followed by the b side. I have cleaned the a b snap switch but still doing it. Thanks in advance.

Try as I suggested again and stop the arm, just as it is about to set down.

How much lateral play is there in the arm?
If there's more than a little, this might be the cause of the problem.
Another thing to check is whether the turntable is completely horizontal. Use a small spirit level on it to check.
If the jukebox is leaning even slightly towards the back, this could be enough to cause  your problem.
