Aimtrak - Permanent Start Button?
« on: February 26, 2015, 10:19:01 am »
Hi all I got myself a Aimtrak from Andy a few weeks back and after a faulty unit I have now managed to get it working. The only thing I am struggling with the Start button. My project is to convert a dead Vampire Night DLX cabinet into a PS2 with two Aimtraks running, all inside nice and tidy with a copy of PS2 version of Vampire Night game running.  So far I have got the Trigger, AUX and P1 running and if you press either button it reloads and if both are pressed it acts a Start is being pressed. The thing I'm trying to figure out is, there are two Start buttons on the gun pedestal for the cabinet and I would like to be able to use the P1/P2 Start buttons as Start for the Aimtrak and the reload button will be on the gun (G-Con 45 style). I have tried a few different things but all I can get the Aimtrak to do is think both buttons as Start or both as Reload depending on how I have them wired. Is there a way to wire it so the signal from the button only goes one way to Aimtrak instead of making the buttons do the same response.

Many Thanks Guys  ;D

Get a KADE device to use as a keyboard encoder for those P1/P2 buttons. When (IF) I build my gun cab, that's how I plan to do it.

How would that work with the Aimtrak? I haven't come across this device before?  :D

I plan to use the KADE to handle the cab administrative functions (coin up, start game, navigate menu). The gun would be for gun stuff only.

Although,  SMH, as I was typing that, I realized that you're not using a PC but a console, so that's not much help. Sorry.

No worries, thanks for pointing KADE out and after reading up on it sounds like a awesome piece kit which I definitively have to get myself one in the future fro some future projects.
