Emulaxian 0.52: Videos with sound in the 3darcade!

0.52:
-The 3darcade comes really alive with video with sound now also on the cabs in the 3darcade itself...yeah!
This is a small demovideo how that looks:

Watch MameWorld for..Vi..and more ;-)
-Antialiasing support.
-A more realistic monitor in the cab.

P-diddy, what are you using for the movie in the cabinet?  What format are they and where did you get them?

I just checked, I downloaded it myself the zip is ok.
There is just a lot of traffic. You will have to use something like getright....

Realmedia...yack...it is the only way Director supports grabbing images of video streams at the moment...hopefully and with some help we can use mame itself to grab the images in the future...no videos required...(maybe you know a c++ or delphi wizzard that can creat xtras and help out ;-) )

And I and KC are makeing them right now...that is why I posted about mng to avi..hehe...
We use advancemame that outputs a mng and wav file...I then convert the mng file to avi...and then combine and edit the avi with the wav file in premiere...
Check Mameworld really soon... ;-)

oh yeah also fun but low quality is taking the videos from the Starcade website and batch convert them to realmedia format and use them on the models ;-)

Oh, I thought maybe there was a site that had them like snaps.  That is going to take a long time to create for each rom.  :P

How many do you have so far?

I will contribute and share if you give me outlined steps to create them.  Do you plan to offer them for download?

So why the realmedia format? Have you thought about a bitmap sequence?  This way you might be able to make movies by just pressing the F12 key about 30 times in  a rom.  They  woudl certainly be much smaller that an avi or realmedia.

How big are the onese you have created so far?

Outline steps will be on a new site at mameworld really soon...and it would be great if you could help!  ;D

Why realmedia, it is the only way to get a videostream with sound in Director on the textures...

Yeah a bitmap sequence can be done but you won't get sound...and also pretty low and shaky fps while capturing them with F12...but it may be a useful addition...
Or maybe I could use advancemae's mng directly if I can find a way to get them in Director...but there will be no soiund then...

the normal qualiy vids are between 250k and 1.5mb depending on the length of the attractmode...

hehe, I have to say.  1mg file to show the graphics from a 4k rom is kinda funny.   :P

My boss still doesn't believe me that I have single roms that are over 100mg.  He always says that they should never have got over 10k

How many frames are the movies?  If you don't know how many frames what is the average length of a movie?

off course vid's don't have to be so long...and if you drop the framerate a bit...and choose a lower streamrate they can be a lot smaller...

but I myself want the best quality I can get for the complete attractmodes for the games in my favlist  ;D

::)You know those wonderful "middle ends"  lilwolf is always talking about?  This seems like a good opportunity for one.....  How about a little "bot"  that will take a group of roms, run them, capture about oh 1 min of vid and then exit and go to the next rom?  I might be able to do it if i ever get time.

Yeah a bot would be great. I have been thinking about that...in fact that was as mentioned before the reason for my question about a commandline mng to whatever proggie.
But if someone is willing to hack advance mame to not output mng but a series of png's I can take it from there  ;)

The only thing is that will not work for sound because the number of pics that is being generated is not constant. The wav file is always of a differenth length. I have to adjust that in premiere. It would require a pretty intelligent bot to adjust the frames to the length of the wav's...

The best thing would of course be if someone could make mame to output video with sound for example in uncompressed avi format!!!!

With sound? That would be cool!!!
I know older versions of mame32 had avi support for the video not for sound...
