Anyone want octagonal cocktail cab?
« on: December 22, 2003, 04:28:27 pm »
I just picked up two free cabs from the guy I sold my mame to (yes virginia, there is a santa clause ;D) and have gutted the cocktail.  Its an 8 sided beast with a 19" monitor setup inside--just wondered if anyone knew if this was an actual game at some point or  just another hideous conversion.  I have never seen an 8-sided (2 player) cocktail.

edited to show it--It's free if anyone wants to come to my house and get it (southwestern ontario)

edited: to give away  ;D

Something, somewhere deep inside me is telling me that is an Aztec Princess (Pong clone).

No Aztec Princess on KLOV... too bad, wanted to see more pics of this cab...

Anyone else think that the fake leather padding on the sides is swheeeet? That cab would make the best Tapper cocktail. It has that whole seedy bar appeal! Hey, Menace, if no one takes it, next time your in Michigan, I'd be glad to take it off your hands. Remember, the next super auction is in only.... 4 months  :-\ Guess you probably don't want to hold on to it for that long... To bad ontario is 4 hours away.  :o I could pay storage fees!

Also, that reminds me, has anyone made a homebrew tapper pour control? I can't Figure out how you would do it. I know you could easily buy a tap handle off ebay, but the spring mechanism seems like it would be difficult without a metal shop.  Any ideas?

How do you know that?  It's not on their web site.

Ah, that little something in my head was lying to me. It is not an Aztec. Aztecs have octagonal bodies, but they have round tops.

Holy Crap--i thought this was some lame cab someone had concocted!  Who knew it was an almost classic  :P ;)  It's still for free though--My small basement is getting full and the fiance's patience are wearing thin (working games she likes, non-working she doesn't--go figure)

Oh and Dark Kobold--I'm thinking of buying a truck in the new year and it just so happens I work just outside Detroit on occassion--You may get lucky ;)  There's also a starburst auction in toronto on january 4th--if someone wants it,I might be able to bring it there.

And just to clarify, it is completely empty--nothing but coin door left.

Almost classic eh?  So how much do you think mine is worth, if anything?  It's in amazing condition and plays great.

I have seen working Pong tables go for 100$ or less. But of course, it's worth whatever someone will pay for it! Your cab does have a certain aesthetic appeal to it, and would look good pretty much anywhere in the house.

Nicely done.  And, of course, nothing near me, except the Cherry Hill, NJ stuff.  And that's a haul in itself.

Hopefully plans will change and there will be something near Boston.

Why can't anyone living in crappy Monterey CA be giving anything way?  :'(This place is an arcade blackhole! Most of the population is like over 50 , except the military folk. And the closest arcade is a crappy Namco arcade in Salinas with about 15 crappy beat to heck and back games. I can't complain though , that arcade was the whole reason I decided to build our machine. Nothing like taking your kids to enjoy some video games and hearing the F-bomb dropped about 50 times in the span of 10 minutes. Not to mention the gang writing that was etched into every control panel and most of the plexiglass.

Why would you even THINK about getting rid of that cabinet? Look at how much control panel real esate it has? That thing has enough room for EVERY control.

No thanks, when I do a cocktail, it's going to be a replica joust.  But I see no reason not to let someone else try their hand at this one.

Looks very similar (but not exactly) to a Pong cocktail that was sold at the Orlando auction last weekend for (get this) .... 15 bucks.

I was kicking myself for not bidding 20 ...  :P

Sweet. Thus far no one seems to want to jump on this cab. Menace, if no one wants to pick it up, please let me know.  I would love to do something with it.

Can you take some measurements so that the cab' can be "blue-printed" before some one takes it?

Looks pretty cool.

I'm in burlington (couple of hours away)--for an extra $15 CDN you can also have the 19" wells-gardner 4616 that was in it that needs a new daughter board (i did a cap kit--hence the $15).
