Help Replacing 4" Woofer in Optimus Pro X7 Speakers
« on: January 25, 2015, 06:34:10 am »
I had a pair of old Optimus Pro X7 speakers attached to a receiver in my workshop. The left channel went out and seems to have taken the woofer with it or at least the timing is a coincidence.

I picked up a set of Minimus 7s but I decided to crack open the bad one to see if I could learn what the issue is, and sure enough, the woofer has torn away from the surround.

A bit of googling turned up this old document:
http://www.chaoticcrafts.com/forsale/Minimus-7%20Upgrade%20and%20Replacement%20Guide.pdf

and this part:
http://www.parts-express.com/goldwood-gw-204-8s-4-shielded-poly-woofer-8-ohm--290-372

however the reviews are not that great...not that I am an audiophile and this is just a workshop speaker.

Is there any recommendations for where to look or actual suggested woofer replacement that wont "break the bank"?

I look forward to any suggestions or recommendations for drop in replacements (mounting holes on 4 1/2 inch circle) that might be better than the above part.
