MaLa - Focus issue on exit

Hi All,

Done a search for this, but nothing obvious came up.

I have a u360, six game buttons a P1 and a P2 button. P1 is 'select' in MaLa, and P1+P2 is shift mapped for 'ESC'. I have no admin buttons, and really don't want any.

When I exit a game for the first time using the sift keys, the focus has been shifted to the Windows desktop. This means that I have to use a mouse to select the MaLa layout to use select (P1) again.

So, just to confirm. When I exit a game using P1+P2, it exits to my MaLa layout, but it has lost focus to Windows desktop. The MaLa screen still shows, but the Windows start icon is active. I can still use the u360, but the buttons have lost focus to the desktop...

Anyone any ideas?

I believe there is a plugin available on the mala website to help address this. I've added it and it helped but occasionally on exit nothing responds on the control panel until I hit the roller wheel on my mouse, not sure why though or how to solve this.

I had some focus issues with Mala also (though don't sound exactly how you describe yours). I installed the plugin already mentioned and also found the latest beta Mala 1.74.5 (?) performed much better in this way.

I suggest you use the latest version of MALA.

Perhaps, you could take a look to AllInOneFYC program.

Got the latest version of MaLa ...

Ok, an update for this. Installing the 'Focus' plugin didn't work - in fact, it didn't even want to work. I got an error "Selected Plugin Does Not Support Configuration".

I had a look at the MaLayout file and noticed an option for "z-order", but I assumed this was used for the actual layout. What is needed is to select the 'Options' 'z-order' and 'Background'.

This seems to solve the issue...

Got the latest version of MaLa ...

version 1.82 Beta?
There hasn't been an official alpha release since 1.74 and almost every update since then has included focus issue fixes.


Unrelated, but are the P1 and P2 buttons wired to the U360 so they show up as gamepad buttons?

No. I thought I'd try the latest stable version - but I can give the Beta a go...

Hmm, that's interesting - the u360 works no problem, but the buttons (connected to a MiniPac) have the issues.

Mala never regained focus when exiting for me.. I also switched to the beta, all you have to do is swap the "exe" so its quickly reversible. Beta has been working perfectly for a few days now (knock on wood).

Using AllInOneFYC you can easily assign a mouse click to a button! When you get the problem you'll press your "emergency button" to solve your problem! :-)
