need monitor bezel advice on my project

i have 2 pics on there to show my issue.  i used a piece of card board to see what monitor bezel will look like and from the front it doesn't look too bad, but from the side i am going to have to fill it with something.

any ideas? also in the very center on the bottom flap of card board is the sensor for the remote and i'm not really sure how to tackle that one.  i read some ppl open the tv up and tap into the power button and install it on the side, but i'm not sure if this tv will ever accidental switch from svideo to another input and then  i'd be screwed.

any help would be appreciated :)
