Newbie - monitor selection
« on: January 04, 2015, 02:04:57 pm »
I want to preface this with -I have read a lot of posts searched online and checked youtube as well.

So I am obsessing about building my first(maybe only) cabinet. I want not only mame but mk4 street fighter, etc. even if I don't play it, I still want to be capable of playing anything.

So far I am in the computer stage, msi board, Intel g3220 3.2ghz chip 4gb ram Radeon xfx 4850 gpu.  And I'm not sure what to do for a monitor.

I have a dell 22" wide screen lcd, my dad has a 27" crt TV, and I'm toying with the idea of buying an lcd TV that I can switch 16:9 to 4:3 at will.

Now I get mame and 4:3 and not wanting to blow up the pic and a 22" monitor may look very small with games in 4:3, but for closer to authenticity, would mk4 and street fighter look good on 4:3?  If I get a 26" lcd TV that should give more real estate in 4:3 I guess.

As u can tell I'm alittle bit confused and thought it may be better to read a reply to my specific situation.

Also I plan on dry running the system on everything available to me but I may not choose a game that would otherwise sway me another way till it's too late. Any insight from experience would be great.
