catalyst 9.3 problem

im running catalyst 9.3 / crt emudriver with windows xp sp3 , radeon 4850 gc on a stand alone -jukebox-mame-steam test pc . monitors are a dell 2007 lcd ( 1600x1200 )  and a nec xm 2960 ( in 1024x768 ) . the good thing is i have a lot of resolutions to choose from , even in steam games like crimzon clover . whats bothering me is that i cant get the aae emulator to run .  doesnt the hacked ati driver support open gl ? do i need some extra software packet ? the emulator wont start at all . whats the prob with the ati cards and open gl - glide ? ati and open gl is a pain in da ass as long i can remember . never had this kinda trouble with nvidia cards . any hints how i can get it to work  ?

I tried AAE with a ATI 3850 and CRT-Emu-Drivers. The strange thing is, I cant play all games, only some... Asteroids, Starwars are working for example, but Tempest i.e. dont work. To say not working is also not really true. The game starts, but I have a big white box in the middle of the screen, thats all.

With the same AAE stuff on my laptop, every game is working. So here it starts to become strange . Off course it could be some "resolution settings", but I just copied the stuff from the test-setup to my laptop and every game worked.
