NSM Fire: Error Code 73
« on: December 01, 2014, 03:49:39 pm »
Hi,

I bought a second-hand NSM Fire 100 CD Jukebox (my first jukebox) and she's a real beauty!

Unfortunately, despite only being delivered this afternoon, I pressed the Background button on the remote positioned on the back of the unit, only to hear a strange noise and see that a CD is jammed (see pic). This brought up Error Code 73. It had been working fine using Free Credit mode prior to pressing it.

I'm left in limbo, as I am unable to open the cabinet door, so have no way to get to the CD to move/remove it.

I have contacted the seller who travelled some distance to deliver and set it up, so am awaiting a response from him tomorrow.

In the meantime, I hope someone might be able to offer me some advice as to what to do.

An extremely disappointed newbie,

Paul

ok why can u not open the door ??
u should have a key for it....
that aside u need to get into the box,and sort all  100 of the cd's out yes all of them..
to this i mean make sure they are in there tray's propely, second make sure the tray's are not "racked",ie that they have not slid out of there small holder's..
now once u have the mean's open the juke box..
find the black switch, pull it out >enguage service mode<,
now u go to work on the cd's,then u will hit "h" 0-0 "h"
this should clear your error 73 code,as long as all the cd's are in there proper place's
press switch back in,u are then back to normal play
at the point of colsing the door u might need to power cycle the juke box ?
thats a 50/50 i do every time

Hi Ed,

Thanks so much for replying. I don't get why I can't open the door either. It was fine earlier, but for some reason it's not budging now. I do have the key, which turns clockwise 90 degrees, but I can't turn it anticlockwise now, while the error code is flashing (or even when it's switched off/unplugged).

Great advice about the CDs. Despite the CD cartridges having been tightly packaged, I also think some must have got dislodged from their trays, while in transit, which the guys who set it up (or myself) should have checked before operating it.

I just wish I could open the damned door, unless I'm doing something stupid!?

Hmm, not sure they were packaged properly then. I don't remember seeing anything like that.

Here's a pic of the jukebox. Without meaning to sound too daft, does it make a difference whether I try your door-opening tip with the unit on or off? Also, what position should I have the key in? So far, I've not been able to move it, but could probably force it a little more.

Thanks again for your guidance.

No luck, unfortunately. I've tried both lifting and pushing down on the door, switched on and off.

It's unbelievably frustrating!

I've done it! Thought I'd give it one last go before bed. I turned the key slightly differently, if that makes sense!?

Ed, thank you so much. I'll make sure to sort through the cartridges tomorrow.
