I attended the Super Auctions Arcade auction in San Jose a couple of weeks ago but couldnt stay for the auction.

But I will be in the Philly area this weekend for the auction in Cherry Hill NJ on December 20th.  Is anyone going?  Im mostly going to check things out.  I would be more interested in buying if I had any sort of truck transportation.  If anyone is going that might be interested in linking up, I would love to meet some fellow BYOAC folk.

Drop me a line or post if you are interested.

Here is the website:
http://www.superauctions.com/

But Ill tell you what I know from the San Jose Auction:
There was no fee to attend, but we were charged $8 for parking by the Fair Grounds.
On the web site it says there is a 13% selling fee plus $12 per item.
But at the auction they were saying there was a 13% buying fee.  Im not sure if they are collecting money both ways, both selling and buying.  Probably the web site is run by a different group of people than those who actually staff the auction.

but thats about the extent of my knowledge

From what I've heard, SuperAuctions is a scam both ways.

And don't forget Mr. Do Rag.

Still, I would go to the auction if I could, but I have no money and no way to get games home.

Watch...they'll have a $1 game row again.  I could use some monitors.

They said you had 3 hours from the end of the auction to get items off the ground if you bought something.  plus there were tons of people with trucks hanging around charging for delivery.  My plan is to go skeptical assume I wont buy anything.  If I do, Ill either find a uhaul place pronto, or bribe someone there who has a truck.  Its hard to fit very many cabs in a honda accord.

I wouldn't recommend that course of action.  If you buy you could end up hosed, or having to leave the cab if you can't find a transport.  I would recommend bringing something you could use to move the game in the event you buy at the very minimum.  You know darn well that last minute arrangements for transportation never works out.

Admission is free. Parking is Free. I should be there at least in the morning going to meet a friend there and then go back home. I live 10 minutes away. I have never bought anything from Super and probably won't buy anything this time either. Just got a new pin (White Water) for my birthday surprise Saturday. I do just go to check things out and see some friends!

Okay, I'm going...along with a couple of friends.  I'll be wearing black shoes, black jeans, and a black leather jacket if anyone wants to meet up.  Maybe I'll just make a BYOAC banner!   ;D

Btw, what's the $1 game row?!?!  I'm hoping to pickup something for about $100 or less that I can either repair or maybe get a working monitor out of or even a decent cab for a MAME conversion.

I just went to the SuperAuctions in Orlando, Fl and I thought it was fun.  Tried to bid on a SkeeBall machine, but it went for $775.....crazy.   I wanted it for $100 ...oh well.

What I was told by the lady who I registered with was that the buyer would pay for his winning auction amount + 13% fee to go to the seller + 6% tax.

PS:  I did not know there was a $1 arcade row, but I did see some real crapped out machine in the very back which looked like a truck rammed into them.    Those things probably would be the last stuff to go and that would mean I would have had to wait all day long to bid on one or two of those.    I could have used some spare parts for a Sega Hangon assembly which was just hanging around back there on a beatup cab.     Oh well.  I go there around 9am and left around 1pm.   The auction started at 10am and when I left they had about 2/3 of the place left to auction.   The auction started off with higher ticketed items in the order listed below:

- Slot machines
- Galaga, Joust, MsPacMan, PacMan machines
- Pinball machines
- Driving arcade machines
- Skeeball   ;D
- other arcade machines

I left right after I lost the bid for the SkeeBall machine.  I needed to leave to go get a SkeeBall from somewhere else..... I was trying to get two of them that day   ;D

IMPORTANT:  The auction started by the auctioneer handing out a crisp $100 bill (cash) to the person who could yell the loudest.   He then proceeded to offer someone $100 of their purchase if they had a SuperAuctions shirt or hat on.

NOTES:  Take multiple extension cords if you want to plug in the games to test them out (ie: or just play them for free  ;)).   I also saw people bring their own screwdrivers to remove the back panels of machines to look inside as well.

I think I will go back again.......
