Rowe Ami R86 - PSU Problem
« on: November 21, 2014, 01:29:55 pm »
Hi,

Newbie here and new to jukeboxes .My father in  law has recently aquired Rowe Ami r86 which had various problems.

We sent the CCC, the whole carousel inc mech control, pricing board and PSU all away for repair. I went and collected these repaird parts today and prior to bringing them home i saw them all working and happily playing a record in a donor jukebox.
Anyway i got them home, installed them back in our jukebox correctly  (took photos prdviously to make sure), double checked everything then switched it on and the carousel  did not rotate, as it should?

Then smoke started coming out of the PSU so immediately  switched it off. Had a look at the circuit board in the PSU and a diode? is burnt out, but why?
What can be doing this? The amp has also been checked and thats ok as is the psu for the lighting so now we are stumped/stuck and at our wits end. What can it be? I have a service manual so will see if theres a wiring diagram for psu.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated
Paul

Hello Paul,

Welcome to the forum.

I think the time has come to send these to a proffesional for testing/repair.

The first job is to get the PSU repaired and your boards retested, there is obviously a short that has taken out the 28 volts DC or 8 volt DC supply rails in the power supply.

Have you checked out the service switch for any shorts and your looms?

If you can not sort out the problem I suggest that you send me your PSU and all your boards for testing/repair.

Regards
Alan
