Working video cards with CRT Emu for Win 7
« on: November 09, 2014, 07:39:34 am »
Hi,

can we share here the status of our video cards with CRT Emu drivers ? I'm wondering if there are better models than other

Gainward HD 4850 Golden Sample 1 Go with dual DVI output :
- Drivers is OK but no screen is detected when booting up with CRT attached to first DVI port : you need to attached an LCD at bootup or do the 75Ohm trick
- Plugin the CRT to the secondary DVI port make it boot in 15khz, but low clock res are not shown on Windows resolution list, making it difficult to use other emus.
- Screen is splitted when OpenGL is trying to access 640x480
- Atom 15 Flashing is OK

I was wondering if better results are achieved using other 4850 brand or a simpler 4350 with VGA out ?

There's a reason I bought a box full of XFX 4350s. VGA out is primary and everything works :)

Thanks for the info.

According to 3D Mark, the 4350 is 5 time less performant than a 4850, of course in GroovyMame i'm sure that won't make any difference, but in more moderm platforms emulator like Demul or Dolphin could it make a difference ?

Neither of those are low resolution systems requiring CRT_Emudriver for correct display, they're both fine 640x480 VGA.

You're right but they run fine on my 15Khz MameCab using 640x480@30i (not with the actual HD4850 :-[), so it's a pleasure to play both 2D retro games and more modern 3D ones.
