Multicade Bartop - Done
« on: November 05, 2014, 06:36:34 am »
So I have been building fairly generic multicade bartops for friends and family for a while, and since I am sick of doing them now I thought I'd document the build of the last couple I plan on doing here so I have a record of them somewhere. probably won't be anything particularly impressive but at least there'll be some pics of sawdust  :)

Early days so far, but tonight I just marked out the sides with my template, cut & routed them and fixed the batons :

Tomorrow hopefully I'll get all the panels cut and fitted and they will look like something arcade-ish.

What have you got going on with the bottom of those side panels? Are those feet on which the cab sits or am I looking at it wrong?

I was thinking the same thing. I assumed feet, perhaps clearance for a fan to pull cool air in?
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Yeah that serves two purposes, one is air flow and the other is lighting. I strip light the under side of these things so they glow to match the sideart colour.

Not as much progress as I hoped but they look like bartops now (big bartops mind you, these two are wider than I usually make them by request)

Weekend was a write-off but I got back into this tonight. Just routed the t-moulding grooves, a slot at the bottom of the back for light, and some vent holes at the top of the cab:

I hunted around at work and pulled some metal grille out of some old drive bays from a decommissioned server, gonna use those as the vent grille.

Next couple of days I'll focus on the bezel routing and monitor mount, the speaker hole routing and a few other button holes  before I start applying some vinyl.  :)

So after a mammoth delay in getting the t-molding, this one is finally done. At least the red one is, the other one I won't get the blue art work until early Jan because I will be overseas.

Pardon the marquee being cut off at the top, it got damaged in transit so I had to trim it off centre, but there's a new one coming with the next batch of artwork to replace it.

Oh and I also get butter suede covers made for these if my mates want it. Didn't get a picture of this one with the cover on because my mate took it as soon as the last mm of t-molding went in lol but here's an older pic of a machine with the cover on :

Thanks! My crappy phone camera makes the lighting look kind of orange, but it's really bright red.
