Any examples of 2-player, 3 button layouts?
« on: October 31, 2014, 02:16:40 pm »
I'm planning a control panel to fit within a 23" wide space on my cabinet (an old gutted Krull cab) and I'm trying to figure out what the best layout would be for a 2 joystick with 3 button layout. If room provides, I may want to also incorporate a 2 1/4" trackball in the middle.

I'm not doing a 6 button layout mostly because all the games I want to have on the cab use 3 or less buttons.

If someone has a similar layout on their cab and have any pictures of their CP or if you have a template that would incorporate these elements, I'd appreciate anything you care to share. Looking on Google, the only things I've really found are the 6-button layouts used by a lot of the multicades.

Thanks!

I'm building something similar - a mame cab for 2-player horizontal-oriented games. I can almost get away with 2 sticks and 2 buttons per player, but when it adds a few significant games with the 3rd button.

I haven't laid it out yet but it seems you could use a 2-player, 6 buttons per layout and remove the bottom row of 3 for each player.

Searching for Zwackery, not because it's rare, because it's fun.

Do you already peruse through the "control panel database" thread listed in the sticky section up top? If not, it might have some pics for you to look at.

Slagcoin.com is a good source for button layouts.

My cab is 24" wide and I have 2 players with 4 buttons each (gotta have my neo geo fighters), a 2-1/4" trackball and a spinner.
If dead set on 3 buttons per players, you can even take this patern  and omit the bottom button.
