If You're Gonna Have a Collection..
« on: October 10, 2014, 05:51:55 pm »
We went to Arighi Bianchi in Macclesfield this afternoon, it's an upmarket furniture store.

Anyway, we had a coffee and cake in the café afterwards, to help me get over the (cash) withdrawal symptoms.

This AMI 200 is in the café,  in immaculate condition as it has been beautifully restored.

This Rock-Ola Tempo 200 play was elsewhere in this large rambling store, a bit like a rabbit warren.

This is in a less frequented area..

There's also a Wurlitzer, 1015 and a "One More Time" (vinyl).

The owner is a jukebox enthusiast,  They're all set on "freeplay" on a pretty low volume for customers to play with. He tends to swop them around from time to time. I think he has more at home. He wouldn't part with any of them.
I don't mind if you don't like my manners.
I don't like them myself, they're pretty bad!
I grieve over them on long winter evenings.

... Wow.... Beautiful.

Funny thing is, that Wurlitzer is normally the kind of juke I have always wanted, but looking at those pics, I would easily grab the ami or rock-ola first.

Amazing engineering, being able to pick and place and play a 45 rpm record without any microprocessors.  Can you imagine how much they would have to sell for today, if they were built new again?
