Ultimarc Trackball Install
« on: December 12, 2003, 10:57:54 pm »
Hey I've got a quick question.

On ultimarc's site, Andy explains how to connect his trackball up to an optipac. Wires listed are red 5v black grnd yel & green x1 x2.

My trackball that I ordered from him has red black white & brown wires.

I just wanna make sure that when I wire the black & red wires up to the  5v and ground, they're gonna be correct... I don't mind experimenting with the white and brown axis connections, but I don't wanna miswire the power & ground.

Also, I can daisy chain the grounds & the 5 v connection between my trackball and spinner right? Or do they have to have their own power & grounds wired separately?

TIA

red is definetly going to be power and black is ground. the different colored wires will be for your axis inputs.

if you want to be doubly sure, follow the wires up to the little red connector attatched to the trackball. that connector has each wire marked with a number, 1 - 4.

1. 5v
2. x or y axis 1
3. x or y axis 2
4. ground

and you shouldn't have any problem daisy chaining your power and grounds.

This really is the kind of query that it's best to ask via email to myself, I can give immediate help. In fact we changed the colour coding to the same as the Happ trackball, so the Happ pinout can be followed.
Please drop me an email if still unsure. Thanks

Andy
