Logitech Driving Force EX Button Hack Help
« on: September 21, 2014, 12:57:07 am »
Has anyone around here managed to link the buttons from a DFEX to arcade buttons?

Testing a few points on the pcbs and pressing buttons isn't getting me anywhere. Probably due to gaps in my understanding on how these things work.

It's been a long time since I messed with the DFEX.  I remember not being able to figure out how to trigger the button inputs without also using the steering wheel PCBs.
Your best bet is to solder leads directly to the contact pads the original buttons press against.

There's a link in an old post of mine - towards end of first page.   http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,115133.0.html

Mark's Arcade Just checked the link - site is long gone sadly.
He'd had the wires mapped / written up nicely.

I might have a copy of it somewhere in my old notes.

Essentially there's a ground and a colour wire.
You'll end up getting ghost buttons unlsess you wire a diode in.
Still u should be able to test and get some buttons to register (try in the profiler).

I saved the Mark's basement pages in case this happened, but didn't want to upload them here while his website was still up.
I'll upload it or link to it when I get a break in my workflow today.

Here is a link for now.

I'll think about someplace better to put it when I get time.

I don't think there is much difference, but the driving force EX is a different model than the driving force he used.
Of the people who have been happier with this hack (didn't have the shaking issue), two of them used the older driving force.
I don't know if that played a role or not.

At least one other person used the ex and was happy with it after decreasing the centering feedback enough to make the wobble go away.
