My first C/P design.
« on: September 12, 2014, 12:39:14 am »
Hello everyone,

I'm starting to work on my first mame cabinet. This is my current c/p design that I'm thinking of going with it's 47"X16". It a 4 player setup with a trackball which is green and the red circle will be the spinner. I've setup the joys so smash tv will be playable as well. I would like all suggestion and constructive criticism.

Thanks

It is good that you didn't try to rotate the P3/4 controls.  That was my biggest issue with trying to build a 4 player panel, and ultimately I opted for a 2 player control panel.  Best advice anyone gave me though, was to mock it up on cardboard and make sure all of the controls feel comfortable.  Good luck!

Pretty good but of course make sure things aren't too tight by testing it.  You could always rearrange the outer-player buttons above/below the stick if necessary (like a lot of 4P games did.)  It it good you have the sticks lined-up though so you can add Smash-TV, Total Carnage, et al.

The trackball and spinner placement do seem a bit odd - maybe you can move the spinner above player 2's buttons so it doesn't look so isolated?

That looked like a good spot for the trackball. I was trying to place it with good space around it so nobody smacks there hand on anything.  Yeah the spinner does looked kind of lonely.
