The old men here like old games.  You have plenty of time in your life to try them all and decide for yourself.
I suggest trying some Neo-Geo games.
Never met a game I won't keep.

what exactly are yuou looking for in games?
give Metal Slug (1,2 or any) a try, if you don't find it fun, check for a pulse and go back to playing angry birds or something.

What type of game do you like to play? If you hate vertical shooters, its lame for us to suggest things like Galaga and DoDonPachi

So hows about you meet us half way and give us your preferred genres?
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

I just checked out some of OPs previous posts.

Shay, it sounds like you are looking for games within the last "8 years", 2 player games I believe.  My assumption is that you are less interested in MAME games and more interested in console emulators and games found there.

If you don't like games older that 8 years old, you pretty much ruled out MAME altogether.

This is a good site for finding good MAME games: http://mamezach.blogspot.ca/  Sadly it's no longer being updated, but there are quite a number of good games and you can filter them by genres, year made, etc.  And especially if you're looking for newer games.  Although keep in mind that "newer" in MAME still refers to games that are 15+ years old.

There is a very Wise saying:

"Dont Judge a book by its cover"

Just because the cover does not look all that good..  Does not mean that there isnt a GREAT story inside of it.

Similarly..   many Older games dont look at appealing to you visually.   However, if you actually give them a fair chance (read),  you will soon find out that most of them are more fun and challenging than most of the modern games out there.

 Why?

Because modern game companies spend a lot of time and effort on the look...  but not as much on the actual gameplay and balance.  In fact, many of the games made today, are clone rip-offs of each other.   Using the same engines, routines, formulas...   Basically, the same exact game, but with different graphics.

However, in the older days of the Arcades...  they didnt have a lot of computing power, nor much ram.  Everything computer related, was also FAR more expensive as well.    Due to this fact...  that the programmers had very little graphical power and memory to work with... they had only One real option:   To make the game Fun and Challenging, despite the lack of good graphics.

Not only that... but the arcade games had to be precision balanced in gameplay,   in ways that modern gaming companies rarely every even attempt.    An arcade machine has to be easy enough to get you hooked... but then ramp up in difficulty quickly... so that you are not on the machine for too long.   If a player was able to last too long on a quarter... the Operators wouldnt make any money... and would complain to the game companies... threatening never to buy another game from them ever again... due to the loss of earnings against their investment.

Also... if the game is too easy... the player will get bored too quickly.. and will move on to something else.   If the game is near impossible, it might also drive a gamer to decided not to bother with it.   Hence, a really good ramp of difficulty is critical... and often took many months of tweaking and testing... to get it just right.

I dragged a kid that was about 5yrs younger than me to a place that had some classic games.   I went to show him, quite possibly.. the greatest game ever made... "Robotron".   Upon seeing the graphics... his facial expression of disappointment was clearly evident.   The game doesnt look that good visually... even for its own time period.    He snarked negative and mocking comments about it, while I played.  I then asked him to try.   At first he just about refused...  then I said Id pay for the first few games.   I dropped coin, and just about Pushed him into the control panel...

At first, he was still a bit underwhelmed.. and not happy about having his Butt handed to him in mere seconds.   But after maybe 10 games.. he became Hooked.   He got to a higher level than I did that day...  and he was Giggling like a little girl all the while.   We were there, playing nothing by Robotron, for about 5 hrs straight..  and didnt even realize it, until they were closing up for the night.

His whole attitude changed in mere minutes of giving it a fair go...  and now its one of his top favorite classics as well.
Id also got him into some two player "Two Tigers"  (non dedicated version - one without the crosshairs),  as well as "Time Pilot".

He was still quite stubborn about accepting and trying new 'old' games.   But,  he was pretty much a very stubborn person all around, due to his OCD nature...  which is quite sad.    Extreme OCD cases often are stuck in a pattern loops.  Dont like to try anything new period.

So... the question is.. have you Tried zookeeper and eyes?   Or did you merely Eye them... and exit?
And if so... then I suggest you give them a 2nd chance... to see what you missed.   Try to get a few levels deep on each one... before coming back to make your report.

Grab a friend, and take turns competing, using the alternating 2 player mode.  IE:  Insert 2 coins, press 2 player start button, and swap controllers at every turn.   (Depending on the game itself.  most games operate like this)

And FYI - Most all of the movies and music you see / hear, are remakes from much older creations.
Martial arts?   Same moves since over 4000 yrs ago.
Mathematics?   1+1 = 2      Still the same, since its discovery.
Physics = Still the same.

Finally...  Younger people tend to associate with younger created media.   They accept this as "Their Time".   However, few of those same kids ever think about the True reality.  For example, most all of the Media the young Singers/Bands  make...  has been written and produced by OLD MEN.  Grampas even.   The backing tracks?   Much of them are made by old studio musicians.  The video games of today?   Most are made by guys in their 30s, 40s, and well beyond.   And are often managed by guys even older.     The latest movies?   Made by several Thousands of people from various age groups.   Not by a bunch of young kids.

So, just remember... that movie you though was so good... and totally represented "YOU"  and what you felt was YOUR generation... was made by old guys and gals.

And many of the new games you may play these days... also is either helped along by older programming vets, and or is a team thats lead by one.

 - Good Media is Timeless -

(Btw - I just turned 41...  and I play games,  as well as listen to music,  from all eras .. including eras older than Me )

TL;DR for the wall of text:

New games you are interested in are ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, play old games. They are better because reasons. I'm also older than you, respect me punk.

TSNC = Too short. No content.

 :P

For every argument, must come supporting facts and examples.  Else, there is only empty wind.

For those who Do indeed read more than a 4th grade level and or Are interested in the reasons why... Will read.   Those whom dont, can skip as they choose... but Ignorance does not change these truths.   Pride hurt or not.

However, Lilshawn.. thats NOT what Ive said at all.

I do play old and new games...  listen to older and newer music, or all ranges and styles.

If you say you only like something New,  such as the a newer movie ... your basically a fool.   For one, the musical score was most likely composed and played by older people, from an orchestra...  such as in Harry Potter.   Probably directed by older people.  As well as created by thousands of various talented workers from all age ranges.

There are good new games.. but the quality of the games has dropped dramatically, due to the ease of game creation these days (compared to the elder days) ... and the platform that they come from:  Arcades games require more balancing, due to less profits and sales of High dollar machines.   New games can look decent, play medicore... and still make mega dollar profits... and not one once of equipment has to be assembled and shipped.

FYI - For the record, I play more modern games like Tekken III, Killer Instinct, Metal Slug, Ridge Racer, ... just as well as the older classics like Robotron, Spy Hunter, Asteroids Deluxe, Out Run...etc..

I also play games before my time... such as Electrical Mechanical Gun, bowling games... Pinball (both EM and Digitals),  Black/White & color descrete games (no CPU)  , like Skydiver, Pong,  and Monaco GP.

Im not locked into any specific time period or style.   If it plays good, is fun and challenges me... I will play it, and Love it.

My fav games are games that require Dual controls.   Use of dual controls often denotes a much more challenging gameplay system.

Ridge Racer was a fighting game?  Dammit, I've been playing it wrong!!

Mid sentence working / idea  change.  Didnt proof read.

Good catch...  but I dont think anyone could mistake Ridge Racer for a fighter.   My Nic on this site, was based off Ling Xiaoyu.
It used to be my old screen name for Dialup  lol   Because I was having such a hard time finding a Nic that wasnt used, at that time.
Spelled it wrong.. but I was at the actual shop,  so thats what got input.

Decided to use it for everything else, as it was easy to type, and almost always available.

Tekken 3 was a pretty big thing for me.  When I was managing the arcade.. the Kit came in and I had to stay overtime to put it together.
It was worth it however... as soon as it fired up and I heard that music, and saw the opening theme.

Unlike many other fighters..  Tekken III  was one of the few that presented a certain level of realism, and a far greater number of available expressed moves.   Unlike its previous incarnations, of which I didnt see until later... it was less quirky.  Far more fast and fluid.

At that time, I was doing real martial arts heavily... and it happened that I fought very similar to Ling.  Using the Stomp kick to the knee, thrusting fingers, toe kick, rapid elbow down punches... (Wing Chun)   as well as tossed in there some acrobatic and showy longfist style movements for fun.    I was actually taught the spinning downward coil move she does a short time before this.  Except that I was also shown how to use it to also trap a kickers leg, and crush it, in the process of its downward spiral.

Spent the entire night playing it, before closing up for the night.   Great fun.

The other fav fighter I have is Killer Instinct.  Used to have about 20 regulars show up almost daily to play that game.   This was before Id gotten the job there.   A former manager saw me gawking in fear about wasting my coins on it... and gave me a few credits to try it out.  I was hooked pretty quickly... and soon was battling it out with some fierce competition, pretty regularly.   Pretty much stuck with Orchid.  Who doesnt like a Chick with dual lightsabers?  :)    Cant believe they ruined her in KI2...  actually, I cant believe KI2 turned out so vastly inferior period.  A huge disappointment.     I wasnt the only one who felt that way either...  the regulars turned up their nose to it as well.
