trackball/spinner not recognizing in mame?
« on: December 09, 2003, 09:11:27 pm »
How do i get mame to recognize my spinner and trackball.  Both are attached via usb.  Both the spinner and trackball will move my mouse cursor in windows but when i load up say centipede or tempest the joystick will play the game but not the spinner  or trackball.  i assume somewhere in the ini or cfg files i need to change something but i am not sure... do i need to do something for each individual game?

what am i missing

Enable mouse.  Lots of different ways:
  • -mouse at commandline, or
  • mouse 1 in mame.ini file, or
  • mouse 1 in ini/gamename.ini (with inipath ini in mame.ini) for every game you want mice, or
  • mouse 1 in ctrlr/ctrlrfoldername/mouse.ini (with ctrlr ctrlrfoldername in mame.ini, and trackball_ini "mouse" and dial_ini "mouse" in ctrlr/ctrlrfoldername/default.ini file)

Hey it's me from the future.  I haven't set up a mame machine in decades but @u_rebelscum just fixed my problem from a post way back in 2003 - THANKS MAN!
