https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7tskx6k9hthlojw/AADvUBLskGalTtP1LquOX8_9aI'd like to say that it's somewhere on the border of being in really awesome player's condition vs. lower-end collector quality, depending on where you draw the line. But, given that it doesn't quite sparkle like a HUO or a lovingly restored machine, I'll say that it's a super nice machine that's seen a little bit of action on location, but it's not far from being a real gem.
The history passed down to me was that the game was on location at some point, but it was not functioning & stored in a back room for a long time. Indeed, when I bought it, the game had a fair amount of surface dirt that needed removal, but, after cleaning it up inside & out & top to bottom, I found that there was hardly any wear.
I picked this up in January 2014. Most of the work & parts detailed below was done by me in January 2014 or more recently. A few of the items were done by the previous owner. So, almost everything listed below is recent.
---
Playfield:
- Outstanding condition.
- Cleaned thoroughly. I didn't strip the entire PF down to the wood--rather, I removed whatever PF components necessary to access to all parts of PF where the ball traveled (and then some). I then cleaned, polishes, & waxed. One exception: I didn't pull off the big plastic ramp assembly--instead, I used the rag-on-a-stick method to reach around the very back left region under the ramp).
- Very slight wear at inlane/outlane rollover switch slots.
- One tiny paint touchup on blue solid area to right of electric chair.
- Full set of 4 Cliffys protectors on all holes + ramp. Holes had very little wood wear to start with. Electric chair, swamp, bookcase, & bear staircase ramp.
- A hint of light showing through around perimeters of some mansion inserts.
- I gave the PF another cleaning in early July (without removing any PF components).
Playfield Components:
- Replaced *entire* bottom flipper assemblies.
- Replaced entire upper flipper assemblies, except for the large metal bases.
- Replaced *every* rubber with new black rubber (rings, posts, flipper bands, shooter rod tip, etc.).
- Replaced all 4 flipper bats & rubbers.
- All underside components & mechanisms removed & cleaned thoroughly.
- New shooter rod & sleeve.
- New foam pads behind all stationary switches.
- NOS slingshot plastics from a TAFG. Neatly drilled 1 required hole in right sling to accommodate mount post in different location.
- Partially rebuilt 1 pop bumper, mainly to put in a new lamp socket.
- 3 new balls.
- A couple of plastics have minor wear or discoloring.
Electrical:
- Replaced almost all bulbs.
- DMD display has no problems.
- Program ROMs are newest Gold LX-3 rev from thatpinballplace.com. Sound ROM is L-1 (8/23/94).
- CPU PCB rebuilt by Rob Anthony (lockwhenlit.com).
- Some new flasher domes.
- Installed a remote AA battery holder in backbox.
- Installed fuse kit for The Power magnets: a buss fuse in-line with each electromagnet, just in case they get stuck on & overheat, preventing them from discoloring the PF paint above them.
Cabinet:
- Slight paint removal on apron occurred when cleaning it. Not too obvious. I've seen reproduction stickers that can be installed if desired.
- Printed new score cards: nice glossy black-on-white photo paper.
- All cabinet art is a 9/10. Minor black paint wear touched up around flipper buttons. I put on black Stealth Flipper Button Cabinet Protector stickers from gameroomguys.com .
- Topper intact & looks great.
- New legs, bolts, feet.
- Coin door refinished--slight marring on paint underneath where orange coinage sticker once was.
- Topper & its sticker are intact & look great.
- Light blue Pinguard cabinet protectors installed.
- New locks. 2 keys each for coin door & backbox (different keys). Backbox lock assembly is new.
- Inside of cabinet vacuumed & blown out--very clean.
- Lock bar hole to right of coin door filled & painted.
