  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
motorace usa power supply
« on: July 13, 2014, 12:03:24 am »
Ok world I am a newbie that works for a jukebox operator (touch tunes cd box and pool tables) but the building that i work in has a ton of gameboards and monitors and control panels that aren't mine but if i could learn how to build games i think i could convince my boss to sell all the arcade stuff to me but he wont want me to sell any of it he will want me to build games and operate them in our already established locations. Now back in the 90s our company experienced the arcade business fall and the cabinets got turned in to what the previous owner called video machine what ever that is and the game-boards monitors and control panels were saved but the cabinets and harnesses were lost i have some marquees as well. This company has been in business for over 70 years and has a huge collection of jukeboxes from  the 1920s to the present day. Anyway I have purchased 2 ms pacmans 1 galaga and a motorace usa all non working i recapped a monitor and got a ms pacman working now the main question that i have today is on this motorace usa the person i bought it from said that it just quit working after they moved it and so i bought it and opened it up and found a 2 piece powersupply and a burnt fuse and burnt connector. So I checked the transistors on the heat-sink of the bottom piece of the power supply and found it faulty so i went to a overpriced electronics store and purchased replacement transistors for $17 i and reflowed solder on that burnt pin and made sure there was continuity l powered it up and watched the fuse blow again. I am wanting to take apart my old pc and use the power supply for this game rather than the switcher because i can buy them at the store and dont have to wait also i could salvage the power supplies from a buddy of mine that has a ton of computer junk and basically recycle pc power supplies i know that keeping them oe is great but free is something to consider. Reuse reduce and recycle. Now wisdom is what i seek what say you about that option?
