Help opening Namco Exceleena Blue Control Panel/Monitor
« on: June 30, 2014, 12:54:27 am »
I recently bought a Namco Exceleena Blue machine.  It looks like the control panel and monitor are accessed by two Tubular Locks underneath the control panel.  The game actually had a tubular lock key hanging off a wire inside it.  Yeah!  Well, when I tried the key it didn't turn in the lock.  Seems strange that they would wire in a key that did not fit this cabinet?  Anyway, I guess my only recourse is to drill out those tubular locks and replace them?  I don't want to damage the machine though.  Are the locks on this machine fairly standard and easy to replace?

Usually the coin box is keyed differently than everything else.  Do you maybe have that key?

I have keys for System board door, Coin Mech door, and, Coin Storage doors. I also have a tubular lock key that should unlock the two locks that secure the control panel and access to the monitor but  it seems to be the wrong key?  Think I might have to drill those out. Hoping they are pretty standard to replace.  I can take a pict if if would help.

I had to drill all the locks on my Exceleena 2. Replacements were easily found at home depot.

Thanks paigeoliver,  I've started drilling out the control panel locks, got one, it was a pain. Waiting for my drill to charge now. :)  Do you happen to have a link to an Exceleena manual?  I want to try an rotate the monitor when I get in there.

No manual link sorry. Monitor rotation will be self explanatory once you start taking it apart.

Also, this might not help much now, but always try to use a corded drill to drill out locks. A $20 corded drill will blow through a lock easier than a $200 cordless will and you can move right onto the next lock.

Good Tip, Thanks.  Got the locks out.  I have a 412 in 1 vertical card coming this weekend so I'll be doing some monitor moving.  Another random question, do you know what that silver metal thing is on the top of the machine? Looks like it's something for a Marquee but i already has the little Namco Marquee.

It is likely a mount for a larger marquee.

OK, got the monitor and bezel rotated to vertical!  Is there any switch to have to make so that games will display vertical or is that controlled by the game board?  The installed game still displays horizontal which I expected to would but I'm trying to install a 412-in-1 Vertical Game Elf board.  The title screen show horizontal and then keeps rebooting the title screen.  I'm hoping its just because it can't get a vertical sync or something?

Nevermind. Got it sorted and there was no need for any further changes.  I just needed to change some settings on my board.
