And this is why you Never use Gift unless you know the person you are dealing with and\or the amount of the sale is small enough that you will not miss it  - not worth trying to save the fees or get a lower price for the item as you lose any chance of getting your money back - Since you told them it was a gift so there is no expectation of you receiving anything from the person you sent the gift to. To send that much money to someone you don't know that has no other items for sale and only 6 past dealings with Ebay is asking to be ripped off !

Perhaps but if you bought something and the seller then told you he'd give you a lower price if you sent payment through paypal as a "Gift" I'm pretty sure your BS detector would be sounding at that point !

my friend had no ebay account. he asked me if i can bid for him - so i bought and paid. one day later wiesebey refund the whole Money and told me he have some Problems with ebay. my Alarm was already ringing but my friend really want the yoke and they made the deal by email contact and PayPal.
 
he will contact the creditcard Company now and look if they can do someting.
