What holds down the top of a cocktail cab?
« on: December 07, 2003, 02:52:44 am »
I was just trying to figure out what holds down the top of a cocktail cab?  I cant seem to find any pics of the way they orginally did it.  I'm assuming they had some sort of lock but I dont really know.

I did find somebody who had two of these on the fron but I'm not sure if I like the look.

If anybody has any ideas or pics would be great I would be thrilled to see them.

Thanks

Not sure which one you mean, so I'll cover the two likely canidates. ;)

The glass is held in place by C shaped clips that screw into the bottom of the top. The top itself is held down by two of those snap hooks usually seen holding upright cab control panels closed.

Note on midway style cocktail cabs the monitor bolts to the top, so it's weight also tends to keep the top closed as well.  On my Pac cocktail you reach through the coin door to unhook the top, the hinge is nearly 2/3's the way down the other side of the cab and the whole thing swings out of the way exposing the monitor and the interior of the cab.

Oh it all makes sense now I just need to buy some type of locking snap hook thingy for the inside and it will be fine.  For some reason I just coudn't think of that last night.

Thanks for clearing that up Tailgunner

Cool deal. Happs, Bob Roberts, Centsible, Arcadeshop, ect.. should all carry those snap locks. Usually around $4 for a pair of them.

My taito cocktail has two key locks that have a catch that hooks into a bracket in the top when you lock it.  My Virtua Racing seat locks closed in the same manner.
