sound surfer jukebox decisions decisions
« on: June 04, 2014, 04:54:28 pm »
Hi all, i need some help, lots of it as i'm brand new to the jukebox sceen  i was bought a sound surfer jukebox as a gift however, after about 2 months it began counting down! So i contacted sound leisure who want me to buy an update disc every month at £25 which is not going to happen. So my first question is which route do i take is there a program i can install to overcome the clock and allow me to enter my own music? the jukebox has now shut down with a blank screen, so do i rip out the pc board and go down a laptop route using the front touch screen but that being said there is 5000+ songs on it so ideally would like to keep them.
Has anyone had any experience with these juke boxes, am i flogging a dead horse or can it be resurrected?

Thanks in advance

If you want the music off you can try this.

It is a tool I made for getting the videos off my video surfer and renaming them with the correct name. You will need to install your sound leisure drive into another PC and probably back up those audio files before attempting the tool. It worked fine on my video surfer but I have never tried it on a sound surfer.

The issue with the sound/video surfer models are that they are singles based, they are quite old and have very little hard drive space. Your best option is to install a new PC with large hard drive and the jukebox software of your choice. You should still be able to hook up the coin mech should you so wish with little problems.

The PC you use depends on what replacement jukebox software you want to run and the spec required to do so, the O/S depends on what touchscreen yours has in. If you go with XP you will have drivers that work, going for windows 7 you may or may not be able to get drivers depending on the touchscreen screen type.

The normal PC that comes inside those is usally pretty crappy and I actually just skipped mine but you may get some money on ebay if someone needs it to keep a stock juke running.
