4p controller in 38"?
« on: June 03, 2014, 10:54:38 pm »
Hey guys, planning out a project.  Can I fit a 4 player control scheme in 38"?  2 center positions will be standard 8 button fighters and outer positions will be 4 buttoners.  Can anyone chime in with similar measurements they've built? Even better, with pictures!

Cheers
Alex

That's kinda tight.   The control panel on my Flynn's build is  just about 45" across and has a bit of a step in it to stagger people so the ones on the ends aren't side by side with the two in the middle. Mind you i also have a trackball dead centre too... I don't know, maybe? Mock it up with cardboard.

Be forewarned, i'm expecting someone to comment on the amount of buttons you've chosen. All the power to you. i've got just as many because I've added modern consoles into the mix and just want options. :D

I am in the process of making a control panel as well. Except I only have 34" of space and it will be a 4P control panel as well. I'm going with only 6 buttons for the middle 2. Since the only modern fighting games I'll be playing are Marvel vs capcom 2 and Soul Calibur, I don't need that many buttons. Most of the other games are console 1-2 player games, with the occasional 4 player game that only needs 2-4 buttons like ninja turtles, simpsons, battletoads, etc. I am a noob at this but from everything I have been planning out while waiting for my control panel parts to arrive, 8 buttons kinda seems excessive but should fit. Hope the people using them are skinny tho!

NBA Jam / NFL BLitz / NHL Open Ice 4 player control panels are 37" across.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.
