removing ball joysticks

I'm trying to remove some ball joysticks, but I am not sure how to get them out. The whole thing looks plastic. I don't think the tops come off, and there is no slot on the shaft to insert a screwdriver and unscrew it.

Yeah, the e-clip on the bottom will allow the entire shaft to come out once removed. Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry it out. It will help if you push down on the actuator while removing (pushing it towards the balltop)
It's similar to bat tops which don't screw off either:
