Use for Gauntlet Legends
« on: May 23, 2014, 10:58:54 am »
Hello all!

My friend has a Gauntlet Legends arcade...just sitting in his garage because its too heavy to get up his stairs. The game is in great shape and works great.

Is there a way to turn it into a MAME cabinet while still using the PCB inside? Like is there a switcher that will go from PCB to a PC setup while still using all controls?

I know its a 4 player set up with 3 buttons each. Is there a website that will filter what other games are 2-4 players that only need 2-3 buttons?

Is it worth it?? lol

Thanks for all the input!

You can get one of these:
http://www.ultimarc.com/jpac.html

and then one of these:
http://www.jammaboards.com/store/2-in-1-multijamma-switcher-pcb-gbs-8118-gbs-8118.html

And I think it's worth it - the amount of games that require more than three buttons are a minority among the overall total of available games (SFII and it's ilk, many, but not all Neo Geos, Mortal Kombat, Narc, etc.)  MAWS is no-more but check out Mawler for it's recreation:

Hi,

You will have problems getting the 4 analog joysticks on the Gauntlet Legends cabinet to work with mame. There used to be boards available to support this but AFAIK these are no longer available.

I converted mine to a Mame cabinet about 4 years ago and ended replacing the analog joysticks with 360s from Ultimarc for this reason.

It's a beauty cabinet though and worth it if you have the room!

Rip out the analog sticks and replace them with 8-ways.  Gauntlet plays fine that way.

Ok, I may do that. I need to pry it off my buddy first!

When you guys use a PC for a MAME, did you also make your MAME a NAS? For instance, if I want to stream music off of it, can it still occur while a game is being played?
