Auction @ New England Coin Op
« on: December 05, 2003, 07:53:42 am »
Aparently there's an auction at New England Coin Op on December 6th.  Yes, that's tomorrow.  I just found out about it.

I know absolutely nothing about the auction, other than what Dawn Appolo has posted on RGVAC:

Quote
It seems no-one wants competition. The auction is 6 December at New England Coin Op.

A story about this auction: Last year's auction had a converted Defender (Gladiator). I and another collector were interested (I let him bid), but it went beyond what we were willing to bid. This summer, the same game shows up with a friend to convert back to Defender. It just left my barn 2 weeks ago. ;)

If you want cheap project games before the auction, stop by my place in New Hampshire. I have lots of project games. Especially cocktail tables. Email me if interested.

Cool! Where is it? And what time of day do these auctions usually run at?

It's at New England Coin Op.

http://www.betson.com/newequip/branchofficesnc.html

I do not know what time it starts.  Most auctions I've seen start @ 8 for viewing and 10 for bidding.  Think I'll give them a call.

(after) glad I did.  Viewing starts @ 10 with bidding @ noon.  It's put on by CMI or something like that.

I might make it down if the weathers not too bad. Any idea what kind of stuff will be up for auction? I've never been to one before.

Usually games from Space Invaders on up.  No telling what will be there.

I'll be there if the weather is ok.  Have to take the seats out of the van.

So did anyone go? I had to spend the day shovelling snow.  :(

It seems that every time I get the go-ahead to go to an arcade auction (or related event) something comes up.

Snow this time.  But...I think it was a good thing.  Here's a cut-n-paste from a message in RGVAC:

"Only 98-ish pieces. Lots of crappy jukes, loads of Golden tee 99's and 2K's.  A Daytona twin went for $650. I bought a VF1 for $150."

another:

"No real deals... the auctioneer started a number of items on the high side.
I understand that a lot of sellers took their games out.  Maybe we'll see another auction in the spring?

Overall, nothing to scream about."
