Hi Fellas

As you can see I am a newbie and surprise, surprise - I'd appreciate some help.

Have just replaced Rainbow amp with proper Ami version. But this has exposed other failings - one of the treble speakers has become muffled.

* Is this right and is there a good UK source for replacement speakers?

* Can Rainbow amp be 'patched up' as a back up?

Any help/ advice would be appreciated

Cheers

Hello and welcome to the forum.

If you are in the UK then I suggest that you contact me, we can sort out any issue with your 1981 Rowe Ami R-85 Starlight, you may have called me already, I am sure I spoke to someone last week or this week who had just bought one off of Ebay.

The (MHG/Kunick) Rainbow MK4 amplifier was a poor substitute. MHG who had the UK Rowe Ami distributorship at the time; bought the jukeboxes from Rowe Ami less the amplifier and output package.

Before you start looking at the jukebox speakers I suggest that you disconnect the jukebox speakers from the amplifier or output package and try some extension speakers to see if it is the amplifier that is at fault.

Regards
Alan

Hi Alan

Thanks for the response. No, it wasn't me that you spoke to. We've had the jukebox for a number of years and live in Castleford - almost neighbours!

Think I have some Pioneer speakers tucked away in the loft. Will these be OK for the speaker test??

Regards
Mike

Hello Mike,

Yes those extension speakers will be fine for the test.

Well you are not very far away for you to drop the amplifier to us for testing/repair or replacement original speakers.

Regards
Alan
