AdvanceMENU and GroovyMAME
« on: April 04, 2014, 11:33:53 am »
Hello everyone!

Just to say GroovyMAME works perfectly on my SCART Sony TV. I haven't had any issues with it and BIG THANKS to Calamity for his great work!!!

I have decided to use AdvanceMENU instead GroovyMAME game selector. I installed it and everything works just fine except AdvanceMENU is using rom game names instead of full game names. Llike: instead of Black Tiger it says blktiger or instead Xain'd Sleena it says xsleena. So I'm unable to find my games by typing on the keyboard.

How to configure AdvanceMENU to use proper game names?

Many thanks in advance!

I'm trying Emu Loader frontend as well. I have selected groovymame.exe file in Emu Loader setup, but it always starts default mame (without switchres) instead of groovymame.exe.

Can Emu Loader be used with groovymame at all?

Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Hi Calamity,

Thank you for your reply. I'm using latest windows x86 version of AdvanceMENU v2.7 and I see in their history logs that 7z isn't yet supported. Which is very strange since the program was updated on march 2014.

Yeah, sorry, the build I mean is actually AdvMenuPlus, a derivative one.

Yes, I was using newer 7z romset so I downloaded old zip structured romset 0.152 but the game names are still corrupted.

See attached picture:

Please let me know how to resolve this issue.

Many thanks!

The game rom name issue has been resolved. It was a configuration problem.

I have another problem with AdvanceMENU: I can select and start a rom from AdvanceMENU and Groovymame.exe will pick it up and start it correctly BUT it starts in a mode where it doesn't activate SwitchRes modeline generator which is incorporated (merged) with groovymame.exe

The exactly same also happens with Emu Loader when groovymame.exe is called from external application.

Is there an issue with groovy mame, switchres and frontends like AdvanceMAME and EmuLoader?

Hi R-Typer,

You probably need to create the correct mame.ini. You have basic instructions here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,135823.0.html
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.
