WTB: cocktail cabinet only, with LCD monitor
« on: March 31, 2014, 08:05:03 pm »
I got the green light on building a 60-in-1 cocktail cabinet for the VA hospital.

I want to use all new components.

I need to start with the cocktail cabinet since this is obviously the hardest part (and most expensive) to acquire.

I'm in the US, so US and Canada are my choices.

I don't need controls, boards, wiring, etc... Just a cabinet with an LCD monitor.

Can you tell me if it is bare particle board, or covered in vinyl, or some kind of laminate? The website doesn't really say much.

They are close enough to me that I think I'm going to pay them a visit, and see one in person before I buy.

Yup. He showed me a pic, and I was sold.

And engraving a logo in the side is the icing on the cake.

I assume you meant logo, not log.  ;D

What logo are you adding?

He's getting heat? The only comment I see is mine, and it's kudos for supporting a BYOACer (we're not all in the same physical community, hence the word "local" in quote).  :dunno

I was looking at the one that has 3 control panels, set up for 4 players. But since the jamma setups can't auto-rotate depending on the game...whats the point?

2 jamma boards, with a jamma switcher...maybe.

See if ebarlow will rout out the bottoms of your control panel so that you can use regular sticks.

Can this be done?

I'm planning to use LED sticks. DO you just need to know the make/model? Or do you need full specs?

see in pic below....all I need is the joy height and width I need to route out

also yes what sticks are you using?

these? http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/315-led-joysticks

If so I have one here I never used I can get measurements from it...if it is the same joystick....just fyi they suck!!! they look good but that's it....but that's my opinion!

I didn't have a particular model in mind yet.

I just don't see why its so difficult to add a hollow shaft and throw an LED in the end of it.

The cost increase is like what, $1.00? Maybe another $1 or $2 for the translucent ball.

I open to suggestions.

Do you suggest painting the cabinet? I was thinking maybe a nice dark mahogany stain possibly.

Here is the coindoor I'm going with: http://www.ebay.com/itm/230895825150

That Holland Computers has a lot of parts that I need, and they are local. So I'll be buying lots from them.

Did you mention anywhere which board you are using?  I'm curious about the game list.  Is it going in the lobby?  I'm sure every VAH is different, but I can't imagine where they would but put it here.
